Went to oncologist today. This is first visit to oncologist a little pretty Oriental lady who was very vivacious and articulate. Maybe that's part of the job. I was tested by a kid who asked me how happy I was or depressed etc.
Then I was taken to the room with the big chair with the paper on it. The paper was apparently used so the guy told me I could sit on any chair. The Dr. came in and was very nice.
She asked me why I got a colonoscopy and everything.
Then she told me what was going to happen.
She didn't know the Biopsy results if the growth is cancerous or not.
But she said regardless the growth must be removed.
This was when I started crying. She told me that the growth was big, likely too big to be removed easily and might need to be shrunk first by chemo. I started crying. I wore my glasses and I remember them getting wet. She started saying: Don't cry and put her hand on my shoulder. I said I'm OK.
She said that while we wait we need to move fast. There were four different doctors I'll need to see in the next two weeks before I go back to see her: I have the list.
A GI gastro intestinal something. A surgeon. A couple of other doctors. They are supposed to call me these next few days.
The idea of having to have chemo was something of a surprise.
She said I have good insurance that could take care of all of this.
BACKGROUND ---
Because this is my first entry of this blog I want to give the background of this situation.
I went to the regular doctor, an attractive Chinese lady at she did some tests -- including "yes" those tests. She said something that bothered me. She said I have an infection in my urine or something like that that was unusual because usually women have those kinds of infections.
I was all scared for a day that I had some abnormal innards or whatever.
But then she said that I needed to see Dr. Chui or something like that. He arranged for me to get the colonoscopy. I went in two weeks ago today Friday morning and had the colonscopy done. They gave me the report but didn't tell me anything except that the doctor said I needed to see my regular doctor to be referred to the surgeon.
Either than night or a few nights later, I looked at the report with the pictures. It said at one point something about a mass that was six to seven centimeters. next to the description were the words:
Most likely malignant.
I haven't told Mom yet because I don't know if its malignant yet.
I got two phone calls from the clinic where I did the colonoscopy with the girls asking me how I was feeling. I wasn't feeling anything. I was fine. But she mentioned tShe growth and I said: Is it cancer? She said she didn't know but I needed to see my doctor to be referred to a surgeon.
I made the appointment with my doctor. It was another older Oriental lady. She came in and saw the report and told me that it had to be removed. She said that if it wasn't cancerous it would be come cancerous.
Then the cute Mexican nurse came in to tell me that she would find someone to send me to. One the way out the door she said: Be postitive there is so much technology.
As I spoke to her my voice cracked as I told her I couldn't believe the way nobody was telling me anything.
As I left I felt like I was being told I had cancer but not quite.
They made me an appointment with a doctor but he said he was retiring then with another doctor but they said that the doctor only could see me in three months because he only works three days a week or something like that.I tr
I tried getting in touch with Dr. Rimon . NO Answer. I tried calling Dr. Doug. No answer.
I sent a message to Ed to see if he knew how I could get in touch with Dr. Doug.
